Organizing Your Research: RefWorks

This guide provides an overview for organizing your research using the bibliographic reference tools EndNote and Refworks in addition to a detailed how-to guide on Mendeley and Zotero.

RefWorks is a propriety online research management tool created by RefWorks-COS, a business unit of ProQuest.  It is a subscription-based web tool compatible on all browser platforms.  Because it is web-based, it does not require any software downloads and is accessible from any computer with Internet connection.

Using RefWorks, you can:

  • Import sources and references froms research databases, catalogs, other citation managers, RSS feeds, and websites.
  • Capture website information (metadata) using RefGrab-It, available as a bookmarklet or browser plug-in
  • Organize and manage references into folders.
  • Generate bibliographies/works cited pages.
  • Create in-text citations with references using Write-N-Cite
  • Collaborate and share references with other RefWorks users using RefShare.
  • Connect to RefWorks on the go with RefMobile
